Scholarship Details

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS Scholarship) is one of the most outstanding fully financed scholarships in the world. International students can pursue higher education in South Korea with the GKS scholarship. The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) oversees the GKS scholarship, which the Korean government supports. The GKS scholarship fosters understanding between Korea and its partner nations, enabling talented individuals to attend prestigious Korean colleges.

The Undergraduate (GKS-U) Program consists of one year of Korean language training, followed by four to six years for a Bachelor’s degree or two to three years for an Associate's degree. The Graduate (GKS-G) Program consists of one year of Korean language training, and then two years for a Master’s degree or three years for a Doctoral degree.

Selected students can travel to and from Korea at no additional expense thanks to the GKS scholarship, which provides round-trip economy class airfare. Up to 5 million KRW in tuition fees is covered each semester; if tuition rises above that, the institution covers the remaining amount. Before starting their degree program, scholars also receive a year of intense Korean language instruction at a certified university.

Additionally, depending on their program type, students receive a monthly allowance of between 1,000,000 and 1,500,000 KRW. Additionally, the scholarship supports degree programs costing approximately 13,680,000 KRW per year and Korean language courses for approximately 12,840,000 KRW annually.

Scholars are given a settling payment upon arrival to help them adjust to life in South Korea. Additionally, the program provides research funding for academic materials, thesis printing, and fieldwork, as well as medical insurance for the duration of the study period.

Recipients receive a completion stipend to support their transition after graduation upon successful completion of the program. As a reward for their hard work and devotion, students who achieve high Korean language proficiency, such as TOPIK level 5 or 6, may be eligible for an additional Korean Proficiency Grant.

Disregarding Scholarship Requirements:

If you don't review the eligibility requirements, you can miss your opportunity. Before applying, review all the information on the official website.

Poor Time Management:

You risk missing uploads or technological issues if you submit your application too close to the deadline. For optimal consideration, submit your application early.

Poor Language Skills:

Applications that don't meet the language requirements may be automatically rejected.

Poor letters of Recommendation:

Letters that are generic or from unrelated people may not strengthen your profile.

A vague or generic statement of intent:
