The Russian Government Scholarship is a government grant to international students to pursue their full-time master's and doctoral degree programs at universities across Russia. Thus, it will be an initiative to attract brilliant minds worldwide and provide an opportunity for advanced academic and research work in the Russian educational system. The Benefits aim to develop international academic mobility, which will contribute much to strengthening international relationships. 

A grant covers many education expenses, tuition fees, and living costs, sometimes including travel expenses. There is no need for IELTS, and GRE TEST IS Required. The Eligibility Criteria is to Complete the Previous Degree. The Bank Statement is optional. The Visa Ratio of Russia Country is 98% for International Students.

Scholarship Coverage:

  • Tuition fees
  • The Russian state and the government will cover all educational expenses.
  • The Russian Federation shall cover the applicant's education.
  • Accommodation subsidy (shared accommodation only)
  • Limited monthly stipend dependent on academic performance
  • In case of winning the competition, one shall go for a Master's or a PhD. Programs using a single window approach without any entrance tests.
  • Language is not an issue, as the course is available in English and Russian.
  • Applicants participate in subject-specific tournaments by applying to multiple colleges simultaneously as they go through one application process. 
  • This grant offers applicants free tuition for the chosen major for the whole period of study. Also, in case of necessity, the preparatory department provides the opportunity to improve one's knowledge of Russian, and the grant covers it.
  • A monthly allowance and a place in the student residence will also be provided.

The Russian government scholarship does not cover the following:

  • Travel Costs to and from Russia
  • Visa costs and facilitation with the embassy
  • Daily life expenses
  • Verification of qualification

Required Documents:

  • Degrees or transcripts

  • Letter of motivation for scholarship and personal reason for choosing the field of study
  • Research proposal, a thesis, list of publications if applying for the doctoral level (Research proposal should have the following headings: title, objectives, rationale, methodology, the relevance of the study, references, and additional scholarship requirements)
  • A recent photograph
  • Statement of consent for the processing of applicants' data
  • Certificates of medical fitness
  • Recommendation letter
  • Attached is a notarized Russian translation for other languages apart from Russian. The applicant should have a school percentage of at least 80% qualified for an undergraduate degree and over 70% qualification for a master's qualification.

Eligibility criteria:

  • With a Bachelor's degree or have completed a Bachelor's degree study program
  • All foreigners are welcome to participate in the competition.
  • Only motivation letters and Academic-level verification are needed.
  • Furthermore, Russian people living abroad can take part in the famous tournament.
  • All the candidates who finished secondary or vocational school (school, technical school, academy, etc.) and successfully passed the competitive selection in their own country may be granted.

How to Apply for the Russia Government Scholarship?

The application procedure for the Russian Government Scholarship is to obtain a grant for studying in the Russian Federation by the quota of the state educational order, follow the steps successively in the following sequence:

1. Register on the Education in Russia Website:

  1. Log on to the official website of Education in Russia.
  2. Create a profile by providing an active email address and password.
  3. Confirm the email by clicking on the confirmation link sent to the corresponding applicant via email.

2. Fill in the Application Form Online:

  1. Go to the Education in Russia website and log in to your account.
  2. The Application Form
  3. Please fill it out in English and present personal data such as full name, date of birth, country of residence, current address, email address, and contact number.
  4. Current Education Level information: Type in your current status, such as school graduate, undergraduate, etc.

3. Attach Supporting Documents:

  1. Prepare and attach all the documents, which might include
  2. Academic Transcripts and Certificates
  3. Passport Copy
  4. Birth Certificate
  5. Previous Education Proof
  6. Attach the Language Proficiency Certificates, if any
  7. Russian language proficiency
  8. Proficiency in other languages is needed for admission to a particular program.

4. Indicate the Choice of Universities and Fields of Study:

  1. Apply to a maximum of two universities in one city. These institutions should offer programs for which the applicant would like to pursue their academic interests.
  2. Select only six universities where admission might be desired, considering the preferred branch of study.

5. Review and Submission of Application:

  1. Could you verify the correctness of all the information filled in the application form?
  2. Please print the filled form, sign it, scan it, and upload it through the portal.
  3. Finally, could you submit the application form electronically through the website?

6. Prepare for Next-Level Assessment:

  1. Interviews virtual or in-person
  2. Russian embassy in your country, in case of participation in the competitive selection for a government scholarship
  3. Attend Entrance Exam
  4. International students take an EGE test for admission to the university. Based on the results, enrolment decisions are made. Some universities conduct a separate admissions exam for international students.

7. Language Preparatory Program if Needed:

  1. If the applicant cannot speak Russian, then have to undertake a preparatory course in the language.
  2. This will normally take one year, during which the applicants will study the Russian language intensely to attain a good level for the program that they may want to pursue.

After these steps, wait for confirmation via email and on the Education in Russia website.

Results will be announced about two months from the application deadline, and the applicant will be informed of their results and any further actions over this time.
