The Malaysia study visa is applied through the official international immigration department of Malaysia. Students will need an offer letter from a Malaysian university to apply for a student residence permit. The institution will then apply for a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) on the student's behalf through an online application. Finally, students will apply to the Malaysian embassy or consulate for VDR (visa with reference). Finally, they can get a student pass for Malaysia. This pass is 1 year, and students must renew it every year. Students can work part-time on this visa.

A Malaysia tourist visa is a single-entry visa without reference solely for tourism purposes. The application procedure can be carried out online through the e-VISA portal or in person at the nearest embassy of Malaysia. The embassy grants an entry permit to just travel to Malaysia, but at the point of entry, the immigration officer decides whether you can enter Malaysia or not. If allowed, you are granted a Pass. It is valid for 90 days, but the immigration officer decides at the entry portal how long you can stay in Malaysia. You cannot extend this visa for business purposes and cannot work or study based on this visa.
