Financial Benefits of the Scholarship for Pakistani Students

The Fulbright scholarship is a fully funded scholarship program for Pakistani students. The benefits of the Fulbright scholarship program are:

• Monthly stipend: A monthly stipend is provided to the students to cover their expenses
• Tuition fee coverage: The U.S. Department of State will cover all the tuition fees for the whole duration of the study program.
• Health insurance coverage: The U.S. Department of State provides complete funding for health and accidental issues. The maximum coverage is $100,000 per accident or illness according to the ASPE (Accident and Sickness Program for Exchange).
• Study material: A stipend will be provided for textbooks and study materials
• Air ticket coverage: Air tickets are also provided to the students
• Visa process: The USEFP scholarship for Pakistani students (United States Education Foundation in Pakistan) will help and guide the students through the whole visa process.
• Spouse: Spouse is allowed for the applicants and children under the age of 21. All the family members need to apply separately for a residence permit.

Eligibility Criteria for Pakistani Students

• The students applying for a master's degree have four years of bachelor’s degree or a combination of both bachelor's and master’s degree (must have 16 years of education)
• The applicants must have 18 years of complete education master’s or MPhil from any registered university in Pakistan

Ineligibility

Some of the applicants who cannot apply for this scholarship are:

• A dual National Pakistan/USA nationality
• A spouse or parent of a U.S. citizen
• Children over the age of 18 have U.S citizenship or permanent residence
• If someone is already studying or living/working in the USA on any other type of visa
• A person who already received this scholarship once.
• Contactors or employees of the U.S. State Department, USAID, Fulbright organization, and other family members like siblings, parents, dependents, etc.

Language Requirements for Pakistani Students

Applicants in both master’s and PhD programs must have to appear in the Graduate Record Examination (GRE general). The minimum required score is 145 and students must get 145 scores in each section GRE examination. For English proficiency, Pakistani students need to appear in the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). The minimum required scores for TOEFL are 79-80 for IBT (internet-based test) and 550 plus paper-based test.

Application Cycle for Pakistani Students

• Normally applications are checked and accepted in December and the last date of the application is at the start of March. 
• The review, evaluation, and interview process lasts till August, and in mid-September results are announced.
• After this next step starts placement and university submission which completes in February.
• The visa process and interviews continue till June.
• In July students can go to the USA according to their selected universities requirements.

All the documents need to be attested by the HEC (Higher Education Commission Pakistan). Students need to follow all the instructions provided by HEC and USEFP to complete the attestation process.

How to Apply for the Fulbright Scholarship Program for Pakistani Students

A complete application process is required for a successful application. Pakistani students can apply through USEFP (United States Education Foundation in Pakistan) http://www.usefpakistan.org/. USEFP has 3 different offices in Pakistan. Students need to follow all the instructions provided by USEFP for successful application.
