University of Insubria
The University of Insubria was founded in 1998, and its name is based on its location. This University has two main campuses in Varese and Como. From 1996 to 1997, the Osservatorio Nazionale, the Italian national body for evaluating the university system, visited the university campuses in Como and Varese. By then, additional faculties had been opened, and they suggested that a new university be established with an organization based on two delegates.
